The Paradise Pounder is the world’s largest flounder tournament, held every August at Paradise Grill in Long Neck, Delaware.
What started as a local contest has grown into the biggest event of its kind anywhere. Recent tournaments have drawn more than 375 boats and over 2,200 anglers from Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey, all competing across five days of fishing on Delaware’s inland bays. The top prize has reached six figures, with dozens of places paying out and daily Calcutta action throughout the week.
But the Paradise Pounder has always been about more than the payout. It’s a family tradition and a charity weekend at its core — anglers of every age get in on it, and a portion of every registration goes to support the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club. The result is five days of serious competition, friendly state-versus-state rivalry, and a whole community coming together on the water.
